Knowing all the ways to compose and decompose the numbers up to and including ten is a critical skill for Kindergarten children to master. It is the foundation for fact fluency with addition and subtraction facts. Practicing this skill, however, is not one-size-fits-all. Each child should practice with his or her target number. It does no good for a child to practice the combinations for 8 if they don’t know the combinations for 5.
For children to practice with their target numbers, teachers need a way to determine that number and assess progress on an ongoing basis. The hiding assessment is a tool for determining a child’s target number and assessing progress.
This digital resource for use with Google Slides can be used in a distance learning situation or in the classroom to make the hiding assessment a breeze! Students can also use the files for engaging practice. You will receive multiple files formatted for ease of use. Be sure to view the preview for all of the details!
