Thank you for previewing this unit! The activities for my Westward Expansion unit are intended to be used in an interactive notebook. There are graphic organizers that students may cut out and glue into their notebooks (if you use composition-sized notebooks) or simply hole-punch the pages and place them in students’ social studies folders. I've included answer keys for each page in this unit, too! Topics covered include the Louisiana Purchase, the expeditions of Lewis and Clark, Sacagawea, the War of 1812, the Battle of Fort McHenry, the burning of the White House, the Indian Removal Act, the Trail of Tears, the Alamo, Daniel Boone and the Wilderness Trail, the Oregon Trail, the California Gold Rush, and flash cards for the many inventions during this era to include the Erie Canal, the steamboat, the cotton gin, locomotives, and the telegraph. There are also blank cards that students can use to study for their test or as a unit review! I hope your students will love this unit as much as mine do!
