These 55 entrance and exit slips will capture the attention of your students and will keep them engaged throughout your lesson. These slips can be completed at any point in the lesson – as a way to engage your students when the bell rings, as a main activity of the lesson or as a way to wrap up your lesson in a meaningful way. The slips are a great way for you to assess your students' knowledge about the content and their critical thinking skills.
Each of the entrance and exit slips can be used for any historical figure or fictional character. Each slip comes with clip art that makes learning even more interesting and enjoyable! Students are asked questions that give them the opportunity to practice perspective taking and understand the point-of-view of the significant figure that they’re learning about in class. Each slip comes with a ½ sheet and full sheet option.
There are 55 different questions in the product and here is a small sampling (each one comes with clip art to make it more interesting for your students to complete):
1) Design a license plate of a significant figure. The numbers, letters and design of the license plate should represent the experiences and accomplishments of the person.
2) As the significant figure who is struggling to overcome an obstacle or solve a problem, write a letter to the newspaper advice column. Then, write the response of the advice columnist.
3) Design the front and back cover of a biography about the significant figure that you’re learning about. Write a title and include a combination of images and words that represent the figure.
4) Imagine if the significant figure that you’re learning about had email. Write an email from one important figure to another.
5) Design a movie poster in order to advertise a film that captures the life of the significant figure you’re learning about. On the poster, include an original title, identify the actors and actresses for each character, and draw two illustrations to represent major actions or achievements of the figure.
6) Write the titles of four songs that you think the significant figure you are learning about would have on his or her iPod. You can make up the titles. Then decorate the iPod based on the life of the figure.
