I’ve always used composition books to record my students’ reading and writing thinking. In the past, I’ve not so neatly, glued graphic organizers and activities into notebooks. It was a great way of showing progress throughout the year. Now, I’ve seen so many wonderful examples of interactive notebooks and graphics for interactive notebooks that I just couldn’t resist turning some of my old favorite graphic organizers for comprehension strategies into a more “interactive” style! I’m jumping on the bandwagon! This is the third installment in my Comprehension Strategy Series.
Inferring helps the reader think beyond the literal meaning of a text and create unique interpretations of that text. Teaching students explicitly by modeling and thinking aloud is crucial. My interactive graphic organizers will help students record their thinking and allow you to assess their level of use of this strategy. These organizers also allow students to practice recording evidence to support their thinking.
Included in this pack are interactive graphic organizers to include:
-Inferring Sentence Stem Staggered Book
-Inferring in Sequence Bookfold
-Inferring Meaning of Words Accordion Fold Organizer
-Inferring Meaning of Words Organizer
-Inferring Anchor charts
-Inferring Flap Books
I've also included graphic organizers for inferring in a non-interactive format as well!
