Interactive Notebook Place Value Activity Set with Task Cards for Interactive Notebooks and/or Math Learning Centers
This Place Value Interactive Notebook Activity Set allows allows students to explore the concept of numbers and place values in base 10. This activity can be used as part of an interactive math notebook or in learning centers. Students can view a number in standard form, expanded form, and discuss the number of groups of ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands based on groupings using base 10 blocks, groupings using place value names, and groupings of the actual place value. Students can practice writing number names for various numbers and explore skip counting by 5’s, 10’s, and 100’s using the interactive components. When paired with another student, the concepts of less than, greater than, and equal to can be explored by having each student compare his/her number to someone else’s.
This Place Value Interactive Activity Set includes a set of Place Value Task Cards that are different from the other Place Value Task Card set that I offer in my store for Grade 2. This particular task card set contains 32 different cards with 8 cards focusing on each of the 4 CCSS Objectives that are covered with this activity set.
In addition to using the task cards as part of the learning process with the Interactive Place Value Activity, the place value task cards can be used in learning centers, for independent review, or in a game setting. The cards can be printed in color or grayscale. For long term use, you will want to laminate the cards first or insert them into the pages of a small 4x6 photo album where students can write their answers directly on each page with a dry erase marker.
