This is a sample of a few of the organizers/foldables/flip activities that are a part of my Interactive Reading Notebook for 4th and 5th grade. The link is listed below. These activities are glued into a composition book and they are aligned to 4th and 5th grade CCSS. The standards are on the page so you know which standard you are covering.
Students use this to take notes for the standard that you are teaching, journal to text they have read, practice standards, and even assess their work. I use this to model my reading instruction for my students and for their independent work. I pick out text to read that can be used with a standard, we read together, complete the work together and they cut and glue their product into their book. Eventually they do this on their own through the gradual release method of instruction, and they always have a model to refer to in their composition book.
