Like a lot of concepts in math, number line knowledge builds off of the previous year from 1st grade and beyond. If students have a solid foundation and plenty of exposure to number lines in younger grades, the higher level thinking required in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade will come much easier to them.
This product is a compilation of number lines and how they are used beginning in 1st grade all the way to 5th (mainly aligned to the Texas state standards)
The vertical alignment allows students and teachers to see how the use of number lines builds from each grade level to the next – perfect for interventionist and special education teachers!
Activities are meant to be interactive and completed with an adult (perfect for small groups or mini-lessons – project up on the smartboard/projector and complete together, print out and put in sheet protectors or give each child their own copy) versus as an independent center, although some could work for that purpose
There are one or two questions per page with room for notes if desired and each grade level section is scaffolded to begin with basic concepts and progressively become more difficult. Answer key is found at the end of each grade level section.
1st grade has 14 pages
2nd grade has 16 pages
