Included in this packet: 3 Interactive Phonology Books that support cluster reduction instruction through minimal pairs. Book one is minimal pair at the word level. Book two is minimal pairs within a single sentence. Book three uses a carnival theme and targets cluster reduction in a story format.
To assemble your books, print each included page.
One page will be your base. The page that is the base of your book has the picture symbols on the right side. Leave that page whole. Cut the other pages in half. Hole punch and add on top of the left side of your base. Take the extra 12 icons cards and use them as your interactive pieces. Laminate everything. Add velcro to all parts of the book.
As you read each page of the book, ask your student to find the correct interactive piece and attach it. Target cluster reduction but also pronouns, verbs, nouns, sentence expansion and more!


Book 1: Minimal Pairs Words: 12 words (s-blends and l-blends)

Book 2: Minimal Pairs Sentences. Each sentence has one two words. (s-blends and l-blends)

Book 3: Cluster Reduction loaded sentences in a story. Each sentence in this story features at least one cluster (s-blends, l-blends, r-blends). The story is about The Volcano School where dinosaurs attend. One homework sheet is included.

The interactive books are designed to allow students to match pictures to each page of the book using velcro. These books are really great for young children because they allow little hands to be busy matching. They also have a very clear ending. The kids can see if they get the 12 pictures done they are finished with this activity. I can work on many additional goals (verbs, pronouns, functions, attributes, etc.) while targeting this activity.
