Do you love using poems in your class as much as I do? I introduce a new poem to my students each Monday. We have fun tracking print (pointing to the words as we read), finding certain letters/words, listen for rhyming words, counting the number of letters in different words, and lots more! Once my students are familiar with the poem, I introduce this interactive poem builder pocket chart center.

Here's how it works:

- to assemble this pack simply print the poem and cards and laminate for durability

- students take the word cards matching the poem (which I keep hanging in a Ziploc bag nearby) and place them in the pocket chart, building the poem word by word

- they can track the print once completed by using a pointer when reading

***Also included...smaller cards so students can practice building the poem on a tabletop. You can have students glue the smaller cards on a large piece of paper or journal and draw a picture. They can also take the smaller cards home along with a copy of the poem and practice reading and building the poem with their family.***

Please download the PREVIEW to see all that is included and how you can use this center in many ways in your classroom.

Storing this center is easy! Simply place everything in a page protector and keep in a binder. I have added a small icon that corresponds to each poem in the top right corner in case any get mixed up.

Word Count:

Title: 1

Poem: 20
