Print the pdf, cut out labels and pockets, and glue to poster paper to make an interactive back to school get-to-know-you poster. Be sure to only glue three side of the pockets to leave the top open! Have Students write their favourites on the paper strips provided in the pdf (writing prompts and lines given) or on regular cardstock, and slide into the appropriate pocket.
Encourage postive classroom community by recognizing and celebrating things that students have in common or are unique to them.
Classroom use is quite variable. Have student fill all topics out at one time, or spread them out over several days. How teachers choose to share the students responses can be tailored to fit the class - small group, whole class, partners. Could make a game of trying to guess who has which favourite thing. Good fit for back to school, and getting to know each other, but can be used all year to teach individuality, respectfulness, or simply to brain storm writing topics!
If pieces are laminated before assembling, this poster could be used for multiple years/classes. I hope your class enjoys this activity!
