Many of the students in our classrooms dislike reading. For some, learning to read has been a challenge. For others, unfortunately, the heavy focus on standardized testing has caused many kids to simply lose the love of reading.

As a teacher, I want to do everything in my power to show kids that joy that comes from reading. Sharing engaging texts during the interactive read aloud is one way to do this. Students are able to interact with the text on many different levels and engage in purposeful conversations with their peers.

Each interactive read aloud in this series builds upon the curiosity that has been sparked with a nonfiction paired passage.
