Even though interactive read aloud uses a fraction of time in our day, planning for these encounters with our students can be quite time consuming. We have to decide on the aim for the read aloud, choose the book, read the book, create quality points to stop for interaction, etc. As a fellow teacher, I understand that planning an effective read aloud can be a little daunting and time consuming during the school year when time is of a premium. I designed this resource to solve our problem of time as it relates to planning an interactive read aloud. This lesson plan contains:
A brief summary of the book.
Options for the opening conversation.
An Aim for the read aloud book.
An “I Can” statement.
Scripts for think alouds
Turn and Talk stopping points.
Common Core reference for each Turn and Talk point.
Script for the closing conversation.
Two writing about reading prompts.
Turn and Talk & Writing prompts in a Smartboard file.
Turn and Talk & Writing prompts in a PowerPoint file.
Be sure to follow my store because I will be adding more interactive read aloud lessons in the future.
