Product Description
Giving your students strategies to help them understand their reading is only one important part of your balanced literacy instruction. By making predictions you can help your students learn to think about and understand what they are reading.

The activities in this freebie are intended to help you begin to get the most out of your interactive reading time by allowing your students to be truly active! Each thought bubble can be held up by students when they want to show what sentence stem they are using to understand the text during your read-aloud. The bubbles can be used in whole or small group instruction. If whole group, I suggest giving a set of bubbles to a small group of students so they may share.

The bubbles should be printed, cut, and laminated. If you like you can glue them to a popsicle stick so students can handle them easily. If you don’t like popsicle sticks, using magnets or Velcro on the back would also work. Then students could come up and place their bubble on your white board or felt-board. I have also included a large poster for the strategy to place around your classroom as an anchor chart and a printable for students to practice jotting down their ideas.
