Description

This interactive reading comprehension notebook focuses on Common Core RL and RI skills and is appropriate for students in grades 3-5.

Students just need a standard sized composition book! You can print these and get right to work... no prep!

The format is just like my "Interactive Writer's Notebooks"- students glue a "Teach Me" page on the left. This is what you would use during your lesson and also acts as a mini-anchor chart! Students can highlight important information. Then, on the right, students practice the skill with a "My Turn!" page. Each standard includes 2 or 3 "My Turn" pages so students can practice with a passage I have written and/or their own text/teacher selected text.

Skills covered include:

RL 1– ask and answer questions

RL 2– retelling, lesson/moral, theme

RL 3– describe characters

RL 4– literal and figurative

RL 5– parts of a text

RL 6– POV (both opinion and 1st/3rd POV)

RL 7– interpreting visual/oral versions of a text and using illustrations

RL 9– compare/contrast similar texts

RI 1– ask and answer questions

RI 2– main idea and details

RI 3– relationships between events (cause and effect, sequence)

RI 4– unknown words and phrases

RI 5– using text features

RI 6– author’s POV and different POV on events

RI 7– interpreting visual information on a topic

RI 8– author reasons, purpose, and evidence

RI 9– compare/contrast two texts on a topic

*inference

*visualizing

*predicting

*identify genre

*make connections

This matches up PERFECTLY with Common Core Reading Response Tasks! I think it would be AH-MAZING to use one notebook for both of these things!

Also, try Common Core "Thoughtmarks"... bookmarks with a critical thinking twist!
