Individual student reading notebooks are a great way of not only organizing students' daily language arts work, but they are a wonderful means of assessing their progression of learning. In addition, the notebooks provide a tool for student conferencing.
These resources will get you started with setting up Interactive Reading Notebooks for your students. The set is based on Jan Richardson's model in "The Next Steps in Guided Reading," though she in no way has endorsed this product. Included in the pack are:
Notebook cover page
Section cover pages (Reading Record, Reading Response, Guided Reading Notes, Word Lists, Reading and Writing Resources)
student reading record sheet
individual word lists (blank)
Reading response menus (fiction and nonfiction)
Genre "cheat sheet"
All you need are binders (or pronged folders) per student, blank lined paper, and sheet protectors to set up your student notebooks! Please let me know if there is anything additional that would make this product better!
