Interactive reading notebook foldable graphic organizer for use with any book or story. Eleven types of figurative language are covered in this FREE interactive reading notebook. Each section of the foldable has a definition and examples. I like to use this interactive reading notebook as a sort of ongoing scavenger hunt. As students engage in independent reading, they hunt for figurative language. When they find it they copy it into the corresponding section of the graphic organizer. Then I have them interpret it in literal language on the back of the foldable flap.
This interactive reading notebook is common core aligned. Each section of the foldable has an identifier that shows where that type of figurative language is specifically mentioned in the Common Core ELA Standards.
