Check out the PREVIEW of SOME of the items!!!! =)
This is a hands on, minds on, student interactive journal/notebook for literature (fictional text) and informational (non-fiction text).
This package includes 67 pages in total in which 40 pages are foldables that students will cut and glue in a SPIRAL NOTEBOOK. Most comprehension skills or concepts have two foldables. One of them I use for recording notes as a class. We usually discuss, do a think pair and share, and record notes on the white board. Then students record those notes on the foldable that has already been glued into their journals. If you have time students can also color and decorate them. The second foldable is the one I use for guided, small group/partner, or independent practice. You can rad aloud a short story or read your anthology (pertaining to the comprehension skill being taught) and then have student record their thoughts on the second foldable.
I have included a PHOTOGRAPH of EVERY PAGE of the interactive reading journal. The pictures show my EXAMPLE, DEFINITIONS, and NOTES I've recorded with my class last year. Feel free to copy the same notes, use them to guide your classroom discussion or adjust the terminology and difficulty level.
This Package includes foldables for the following concepts.
Point of View
Poetry, Dramas, Prose
Non-fiction text features
Cause & Effect
Compare & Contrast
Problem & Solution
Firsthand & Secondhand Account
All of these concepts are common core aligned and reading skills that could be applied to any lesson.
ONCE YOU ARE DONE WITH ONE OF THE FOLDABLES, STUDENTS CAN USE THE INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOK TO GO BACK AND LOOK AT THE NOTES THEY GATHERED TO REFRESH THEIR MEMORY.
YOU WILL BE USING THE ALL YEAR ROUND & THE KIDS ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!
