This is one of the instrumental ways I taught reading in my kindergarten classroom. This pack reinforces ALL the sight words that Kindergarteners are expected to learn and is a GREAT teaching tool or review for First graders.
Print the entire packet, three whole punch it, and stick the first few pages and one poem at a time in three-prong folders.
I used to teach the sight words in the story all week and use the story on Friday to practice as a class.
I would project the poem / story onto the whiteboard, we would go through all the things we could do to it together, and then I would send the students to their desks to work on their poems.
The students would have to come back with the poem signed showing me that they read it to their parent.
This was a great fluency tool! It is VERY interactive.
