Are you looking for the perfect way to include Calendar in your everyday learning?! If your answered yes then this is the product for you! This SMART Interactive Calendar file includes activities for the entire school year!
Contains 19 pages of calendar math activities and a page for each month of the year! Students can start their morning with an interactive attendance page then move on to various math standards.
Page 1 Attendance Page: Click on the text to change the names for each child in your class. I use this page as a way to take attendance. Each morning the students move their name to the cloud in the corner of the page. This is how I know who is here for the day. If you wanted to, you could copy the cloud and make one for school lunch and one for home lunch to take lunch count as well.
Page 2 Months of the Year: This page is the perfect way to review the months of the year. We start in the beginning of the year by practicing the months of the year song. We then discuss what month we are in and move the name to the chalkboard. We also talk about what last month was and what next month will be.
Page 3 Calendar Page: There is a separate calendar page for each month of the year that is themed to match holidays/time of year. On each page you will find:
• the name of the month
• numbers to use for the date
• infinite cloner days of the week
• a box for yesterday, today, and tomorrow’s day of the week
• a spot to record how many days we have been in school OR a spot for the number of the day
• Infinite clones of clip art images to use for a pattern (Thank you Graphics From the Pond!)
• You may also want to add text to celebrate birthdays, holidays or special events
Page 4 Today’s Number: You can do this page several different ways. In my classroom I use it for how many days we have been in school. This is a big help when keeping track for the 100th day or just a fun way to celebrate the school year going by! You could also use it for a number of the day and choose what number you would like to use for your class. I have my students drag the number to the cloud, think of different ways to make that number, and count the number in ten frames. This way we practice writing the number in standard form, representing the numbers in several different ways (tally marks, groups of five, number lines, addition & subtraction sentences, etc), and counting by tens with ten frame math.
Page 5 Place Value: This page is for practice with place value blocks. We usually start by review what each of the place value blocks is called. We use how many days in school to drag our blocks to the cloud. We talk about how to regroup when we have enough blocks to move up.
Page 6 Filling Our Piggy Bank: This page is for practice with basic money concepts. The first few months of school we learn and review all of the coins names and what they are worth. We also practice singing songs about each of the coins. You can find the songs we sing at the end of this packet. After we learn the basics, we will begin finding different ways to make change. This will be hard for a lot of kids but is a great extension for those high flyers! You may also incorporate counting by ones, fives, and tens with the coins!
Page 7 Weather: This page is to track the weather from month to month by graphing data we collect each day. We will discuss what type of weather has the least, most and same amount. We also talk about each of the seasons and drag the correct one to the cloud.
