Do your students have trouble conceptualizing spans of time and chronological order of events? This timeline activity is perfect for your American History lessons.
Even Upper Elementary and Middle School students enjoy a break from their seats!
This product includes multiple options and parts:
- Large timeline of early American history events to hang in classroom
- Smaller "card" versions of timeline events for students to use interactively
- Base timeline
- 20 timeline questions, including 15 short response and 5 long answer (created in Microsoft Word & fully editable)
- Answer Key
It is an interactive timeline - there are 35 events that can be printed on cardstock or paper, and a large paper base timeline that can be spread out on the floor. Students may arrange the events on the timeline alone or with a partner - perfect for your kinesthetic learners, or as a center activity!
The timeline is fun and colorful - I printed mine in color on cardstock and laminated to use for future years. It can also be printed in black and white if you wish to save ink.
I designed this short activity as a timeline review, and as a way to really help students interact with history. it would also work well as a preview before students start a unit.
In addition, the finished timeline could be displayed on the wall.
Be sure to check out my other Interactive Timelines, including the Interactive Timeline of the American Revolution.
