*IMPORTANT NOTE: Some people who have bought this have trouble getting the file to work with a Promethean board and some other smart boards. I KNOW that it works on a Mimeo board (that is what I use it on) and I believe some people have gotten it to work with other Smart boards, but I do wan to warn you before you purchase. Please let me know if it doesn't work for you and I can try to make it up to you somehow.
(NOW INCLUDING 2017-2018 CALENDAR) This is just what you need to make your calendar routine more engaging and exciting for students! If you have a Smart Board or Mimio board in your classroom, this is perfect for you. The document comes in two formats:
.ink (for Mimio)
.iwb (for Smart Board)
The interactive white board calendar routine includes:
-Number grid marking days in school
-move red circle to the number of days there have been in school
-count by 2 song
-count by 5 song
-count by 10 song
-One calendar template to use for every month
-write in the month
-make a color pattern with the days
-write in the day
-sticker for birthdays
-stickers for "yesterday", "today", and "tomorrow"
-month and days of the week songs
-Weather graph (with weather song), birthdays that month (with birthday song), and tally marks (with count by 5 song)
-Number of the day
-Story problem of the day
-Base ten blocks to count days in school
-2-D and 3-D Shape sort
The calendar folder matches what you see on the interactive white board document so students can follow along. It is scaffolded so that students are gradually challenged more as they go. For example: in September students are tracing the numbers for the calendar section but by December, they are filling in the numbers on their own.
During calendar routine students will:
-Fill in a number on the number grid representing the number of days they have been in school (they will trace the first 31 numbers and then write the rest on their own except for 41, 51, 61, 71 and so on they will trace to keep them on track)
-Write in today's date on the calendar
-Write the full date
-Mark any birthdays for the month
-Fill in the weather graph
-Add a tally mark for the day
-Complete the number of the day page with a dry erase marker (this page is in a sheet protector)
-Complete the story problem of the day page with a dry erase marker (this page is also in a sheet protector)
Enjoy this fun new way to do calendar in your classroom!
***UPDATED 2017-18 instructions for printing:
1. Print the number of days in school and calendar pages 2-sided for each student. Hole punch all pages.
2. Print the Number of the Day (choose one version), Problem of the day, and Weather/tally/date/birthday page. Stick these in a pocket protector. Each student should get one of each.
3. Put together student folders in this order:
a. Number of days in school on top
b. Calendar pages in order
c. Weather/tally/birthday/date page in page protector
d. Number of the day in page protector
e. Problem of the day in page protector
I hope you enjoy this new version. It saves paper and I feel will be much simpler for students to use. I changed it based on my own experience using it over the past 3 years. Please provide feedback!
