This power point focuses on one of the U.S. government's linkage institutions: interest groups. This topic is a favorite of the college board and it has been covered on many A.P. U.S. Government and Politics exams over the past decade. This presentation covers many of the issues that are required in any A.P. government class, but still simple enough for anyone studying American Government. This presentation covers different theories of interest group power, the goals of interest groups, and tactics used by specific groups like the N.R.A., the N.A.A.C.P., and the American Medical Association. I have used this presentation in my classes for the past 8 years, and feel as though my students are well prepared for the A.P. test and completely understand the role of interest groups in our government.
