I used this activity at the start of US History II. It lists the different eras starting with 1890 and going all the way up to present day. The students need to found out when their relatives were born and label which relative was born in that era. Next the students need to write down some memories or thoughts their relatives had growing up in certain eras. Majority of the students enjoyed this activity. A common response was "wow, I didn't really realize my grandparents went throw so many hard times with World War II or the Great Depression".
