This lesson is designed for intermediate-level, adult ESL students as an opportunity to read and discuss a short book.
One week before the lesson, please assign the students the Roald Dahl book "Fantastic Mr. Fox" for homework.
The lesson consists of a series of questions, starting with easier warm-up questions, then moving on to story-based questions, and finally challenging the students with general discussion questions about Roald Dahl and his books.
It is most effective to put the students in pairs or small groups and frequently change partners. As students finish discussing questions, encourage them to share what they talked about with the class.
During the lesson, it is sometimes necessary for the teacher to first break down difficult questions into simpler ones.
If time remains, practice pronunciation with the attached poems from the story.
