This is an intriguing article about whether or not the female spouse of a deceased man has the right to be artificially inseminated with his frozen sperm. Students find this concept very interesting and thought-provoking. I like to follow this reading with a debate.
The text has vocabulary defined to the left and comprehension questions in English to the right. After reading, students are asked to summarize the point of view of both parties and give their own opinion in French.
I use this reading in my AP French Language and Culture unit on FAMILY STRUCTURES/THE ROLE OF THE FATHER IN THE FRANCOPHONE FAMILY. This would also be great in a unit about BIOETHICS.
