Thank you for your interest in this product! Internet Scavenger Hunts are a great way to extend students’ knowledge, develop technological research skills, practice skimming for information, and working within word processing documents.

Each Internet Scavenger Hunt has approximately 10-12 tasks. It should take between 1-2 hours to complete. A partial answer key is provided, but many of the tasks are open-ended and individualized to a student's interests and preferences.

Internet Scavenger Hunts are great for many leaning tasks!

As extension: Students who finish early can use this scavenger hunt journal to explore content of an enriching nature. There are often links to interactive sites, videos, high-interest content, and even puzzles, jokes, and games. Students love to work on something meaningful to them.

As technology development: Students must learn the skills of navigating a website using links. In addition, managing multiple windows and tabs from two or more applications running on the computer takes practice. When students toggle between word processing documents and Internet sites, they learn important work force skills of computer productivity.

As research practice: When browsing for information, students must learn to skim relevant text and ignore non-relevant text such as ads or toolbars designed to take you away from a website. Learning which text is relevant verses which is not is an important skill to develop. In addition, students must mentally classify main ideas and supporting details to explain the main purpose of an article.

As productivity work: In college and careers, being able to use a word processing program is the foundation of all other technology productivity skills. In addition to gaining keyboard familiarity, students learn to work within tables, use spell check, add or delete pictures, and explore various word processing tools such as formatting and design.
