Having a School Counseling intern is a exciting prospect! It's another set of hands yes, but the job comes with heaps of responsibility for the supervising School Counselor. Making sure your intern feels comfortable and "at home" at your school is important. Like knowing where things are located, class schedules, and school procedures. After having several interns, I have put together a list of items I think Interns and Practicum students would find helpful in their time at your school. This binder serves as a place to store information and add resources they create or you share with them during your time together. I also have provided links to professional resources I know will be useful like ASCA forms, School Counselor Ethical Codes, FERPA, and 504 guidelines.
This packet includes a binder cover and spines, table of contents, divider pages in color and black and white, 2 resources lists for personalizing the binder for your school and the needs of your intern.
With this binder, your intern should leave your school site with a well-organized set of resources and information he/she can use as they begin their school counseling career.
