Interoception is the lesser known sense, that helps us to recognise and understand what is going on inside our bodies. Interoception prompts us into seeking water when were thirsty or warmth when we are cold. An interoceptive activity focuses on creating and noticing a change in some aspect of one's internal self such as muscular system, breathing, temperature, pulse or touch.
In the classroom, interoception can benefit students by learning to understand their bodies and emotions, further improving their self-management skills and self-regulation. Interoception enables students to identify their emotional reactions and the necessary skills to be in control of these reactions.
Teaching interoception sees an increase in student focus and attention and their abilities to make appropriate and reasonable decisions. Interoception sees an increase to students' levels of engagement toward their learning and improvement in social skills. Interoception has seen a reduction in reported behavioural occurrences, and a rise in the overall health and well-being of students.
In this product you will find 12 different interoception activity cards and one instructions card. Use as a guide with your whole class or for students to use individually or in small groups.
Print and cut the cards back to back with the title card on each activity, or two activities back to back, your choice!
