After a month of teaching the preterite versus the imperfect, I knew my students needed more practice but were ready to delve a little deeper. Therefore, I created this mini dream unit. They logged their dreams for a week before we began. Then we used dreams and dream analysis to perfect our use of preterite versus imperfect. As a culminating activity, they wrote a detailed account of their dream as if they were telling a story in the past tense and we used the iPad app 30 hands where the students chose images to represent their dream. They recorded themselves telling the dream over the pictures. It was a great unit and lasted 6 classes. I hope you enjoy and feel free to reach out if you'd like any more information.
