This PowerPoint is intended as an introduction to reading bar graphs. The presentation is intended for an elementary audience. An example is given with six accompanying questions, each explained graphically as well as in words. Color coding is used, when applicable, to reinforce conceptual understanding. Also included at the end are four additional situations that each has a bar graph. These are intentionally given without questions so as to allow for teacher flexibility in use. Based on student progress and content objectives, the teacher could formulate questions and use the bar graphs for guided or independent practice or simply further discussion.
