Students can use these cards interactively to help them get ready for End of Grade standardized testing.
These question stems are based on the Released Test Items from the North Carolina State Test for 4th grade, but are generic enough to use for other grade levels and states! They are based on the common core standards.
Students can use these cards to see the different ways that the “testers” ask them the SAME QUESTION! The headings summarize what the test questions are really getting at – author’s purpose, word meanings, main idea, details, or character traits. This helps students not get thrown off by the vocabulary of a question.
1. Print on cardstock. Then cut all the cards apart.
2. Split students into groups or pairs.
3. Students work together to sort the cards into their appropriate “headings.”
4. I would print one copy of the cards NOT cut apart to use as an answer key where groups can check their answers.
There are many different ways that you can use these cards in your classroom and I hope you and your students enjoy them!
