Use authentic language (the recent pop hit, "Cool" by Kendji Girac) to help your beginning French students practice their activities and dates vocabulary in this interpretive listening activity.
After students have listened to the song (can be found here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2xcpwk) they will hone their listening skills to find the missing words (activities and dates vocabulary such as chanter, demain, jouer).
Next, students will use the authentic text to learn new vocabulary words that are found in the song, looking for cognates to enrich their vocabulary. Then they will use the words in context to help them discover the meaning of the song. Finally, they will analyze the informal negation structure found in the song to see how it compares to what they have learned so far about ne...pas.
My 7th and 8th grade students loved the catchy music and often ask for the song to be replayed in class!
