This is an interpretive listening partner activity that also has reading, writing and vocabulary practice. Students begin by reading descriptive sentences to their partners. Students then write what they hear and draw detailed pictures representing each sentence.
This activity is centered around a unit on clothing that is in the preterite tense. Students hear a variety of verbs in preterite tense and details about various clothing items. The objective is to have students listen to figure out details about different clothing items that two different characters are buying in the mall and online. Each partner will hear 12 statements that they can write in Spanish or English and then draw in the boxes provided.
I recommend that students take turns reading and listening, so that they have an equal amount of time trying to figure out the details of their stories. Once both are done reading and listening, students can work independently to draw the details in each box. Then both students check each others' papers for accuracy based on what they read/heard.
This activity asks students to operate in the target language, practice their fluency, speaking, reading, writing and listening.
