Description
I created this for APES, but it could easily be used in AP Biology or other general Biology, Ecology, or Environmental Science classes. It's designed around the APES Essential Knowledge ERT-1.A.3, Competition can occur within or between species in an ecosystem where there are limited resources.
Students often confuse inter- vs intraspecific competition, so this quick video assignment is designed to help them model the difference (and therefore remember it better). Since TikTok is popular, I put that extra spin on it to make it more exciting.
The students are not actually posting their video on TikTok- just making a video in that style--short, creative, engaging. I have my students submit to Flipgrid, but you could ask them to send you the mp4 file, a YouTube link, or whatever else you would like.
Rubric is included.
