This intervention has been set up to work alongside the Read, Write, INC program which is carried out through the Key Stages. This intervention has been tailored to suit the needs of a specific set of pupils which are not able to access the work within the classroom yet but have other educational needs which need to be addressed before they can be classroom ready to take part in the classroom based Read, Write, INC.
With this in mind the session will be broken up into 4 parts. Part 1 will be the Phonics session, taking into account the structure of a Read, Write, INC lesson and follow the same objectives. The second part of the lesson will be focused on fine motor skills ready for the children to start writing. This will be done with focused tasks using a wide range of materials. Parts 3 and 4 will be looking at speaking and prepositions. These are set through a group of session which are tailored for the children to develop vocabulary and knowledge of positional words. This will help the children with understanding of different concepts.
The children will be assessed at the end of each week and a record will be kept of the results to track the progress of the group throughout the year. The assessment focused on the sounds and graphemes which have been learned this week. There will also be an assessment on their speech to see if they can repeat the sound back to the adult which has been delivering this intervention.
