Do you have students who continuously struggle with comprehending informational text? This detailed (research-based) intervention plan is great for teachers who have students in the RTI process! It contains a detailed 3-day Tier plan that allows the teacher to easily organize their intervention time and allows the students' interests to lead the instruction.
First, make plenty of copies of the graphic organizers and the intervention plan. Place all of these in an easily accessible notebook. Also, create a separate small notebook to add multiple copies of the vocabulary graphic organizer. This will become your vocabulary dictionary. Then, allow your intervention students to visit the school library (or your classroom library) and choose expository text that interest them (on their instructional level). Place all of these books (between 10-12) into a crate or box for easy access. Finally, just follow the intervention! Having everything already created before the intervention cycle begins will make your life so much easier!
