I used this organizer and rubric for my 6th grade English students to get know each other at the beginning of the year. It promoted good conversation between the partner groups. It also allowed for me to get to know my students personally and as writers from day one of the school year. It gave me a good gauge right from the beginning on how they were as a writer and what they struggled with. I had each student turn the organizer into a well developed paragraph after the interview was over. After all students finished their paragraphs we introduced each other to the class.
This is a great project to work on when learning about topic and main idea as well!
I also used this project for my Journalism/Newspaper students when we were learning about the interview process.
