Chapter 16: Students will analyze the epigraph, Krakauer's speculation on Chris's death, and Chris's annotations in order to better understand his life and death.
Chapter 17: Students will closely read and annotate an excerpt on risk-tasking and then answer questions to contemplate the appeal of risk to individuals.
Chapters 17-18: Students will analyze Krakauer's attitude and purpose and then evaluate the book as a whole.
Chapter 18: Students will analyze Chris's final thoughts and Krakauer's fixation on his cause of death and then provide their own interpretation on Chris's life and death.
