This product contains information about interpreting the remainder in a division problem. There are four different ways to use the remainder, depending on the word problem given. This printable is set up as a four-square graphic organizer. In each square, there is one way to interpret the remainder as well as a word problem that gives an example of that way. Teachers can use this as a model, guided practice, or students can complete the four-square independently depending on how much exposure they have had to this skill. I used it as guided practice so the students had a correct, explicit tool to refer to when interpreting the remainder. They glued it into their math journals. (PDF file)
