This lesson serves as an introduction to the thought process necessary to take artifact details and turn them into general historical conclusions. Many teachers take this habit of mind for granted so this lesson really helps to create a systematic approach for students to use. This is a great lesson for all grade levels. I used it initially for AP World but then expanded it to all classes. You can use any artifacts your heart desires. I've posted a couple from Mohenjo-Daro as a starting point.
