An editable Powerpoint presentation for your Art 1 class. Note: The title slides are not editable.
This 23-slide lesson presents the questions “What is art?” and “What is the purpose of art?” It gives a modern definition of art, briefly discusses whether the definition is affected by the time period or who the artist is, and covers the following 6 purposes of art: functional, religious/ceremonial, artistic expression, narrative, persuasive, and aesthetic. The final 4 slides are of images that allow students to decide which primary purpose of art is depicted.
The majority of slides also contains teacher notes and suggested dialogue. A sample of the notes is in the preview file.
The Powerpoint can be edited for your personal classroom use, but no part may be copied, sold, given away, or posted online. Your purchase grants the use of these slideshows to 1 person.
