Intro to Beauty Careers STEM Challenge (career exploration, distance learning)

Many teenagers dream of a career as a makeup artist or hairdresser - this Intro to Beauty Careers STEM Challenge will help them discover how to turn their interests into a career! This Intro to Beauty Careers STEM Challenge is a self-guided, self-paced distance learning career exploration mini course for teens to explore careers in the beauty industry through fun online activities and offline projects - cosmetologist, dermatologist, trichologist, and more cool beauty careers! Delivered in interactive Google Slides and PDF formats including:

1. interactive online beauty career exploration resources for trichologist, aesthetician, cosmetologist, dermatologist, and massage therapist (each with virtual job shadow YouTube video, career info sheet in English and Spanish, and hands on career exploration activity)

2. beauty + STEM careers analysis activity to help teens see how STEM relates to these professions

3. Simple quiz with answer key to check for understanding

4. printable beauty treatment process infographic (needed for the Challenge, and as an added bonus print it out for display on the walls of your classroom!)

5. beauty industry STEM Challenge with student friendly step by step directions and 2 page Canva 'natural ingredients menu' infographic

In this challenge students apply everything they learn, acting as a STEM related beauty professional to formulate their own treatment for Janice, a fictional client with specific skin issues.

This Challenge is provided as one cohesive Google Slides and PDF document with embedded links to corresponding online activities for easy uploading and sharing in your online classroom! All activities are designed to be completed independently using only simple materials and online resources, taking at least 3 hours for students to complete - a fun distance learning activity!

Supports NGSS MS-ETS1-2 and HS-ETS1-3. A really creative way to integrate engineering in your beauty related CTE class, or as an independent career exploration mini course for interested students.
