This unit includes four sections. ALL four sections include a PowerPoint presentation, handouts for notes, and a quiz. The notes handouts are the PowerPoint slides word-for-word except that I have created some blank spaces so students have to follow along to get all of the notes. There are keys to go with all of the multiple choice quizzes. I did not include a key for the labeling quiz.
1. Intro to Computers covers vocabulary like hardware, software, RAM, hard drive and CPU. It also will teach students about different types of software and about input/output devices. Download the preview to see the notes handout for this section.
2. Microprocessors goes in depth as to what the CPU does and how it is made. There are photos and descriptions of different careers involved in the creation of a CPU chip. Most of the information found in this lesson was found via Intel's education website. There is a link to a YouTube video that shows the process of making the chip as well as an activity demonstrating the three basic functions of the microprocessor.
3. Window Operating System teaches students the different parts of a window and desktop in Windows 7 including the task bar, system tray, ribbon, quick access toolbar and many others. It also explains what an operating system does. There are a lot of screen shots in this PowerPoint.
4. File Management explains to students what files and folders are as well as how to create folders and sub-folders and why you need to keep files organized. This section comes with an activity that has students set up folders to store their work in for Computer Applications. You may need to tweak the activity depending on what class you are using this unit for and what folders you want them to have for your class.
NOW INCLUDES TWO REVIEW GAMES!
I have added my Intro to Computers Jeopardy and Intro to Computers 20 Questions PowerPoint games.
