Product Description
Colorful, engaging learning goal-driven detailed 7-slide 2013 PowerPoint presentation to introduce Fables! This animated PPT includes custom animations, relevant graphics, accurate and relevant information presented in a highly relatable way to your students, and slide transitions, and can double as printables.

In the PPT, you are provided step-by-step instructions to invite students to begin identifying fables, including a whole group viewing/analysis with the classic tortoise and hare fable example, as well as directions for a jigsaw cooperative learning / collaborative reading analysis activity where students work in small groups to read, analyze, and share out various Aesop fables. (The fables are easily found via internet search, or in most Aesop fable book collections, which was the original source for my selections.)

In this way, students are invited to meet anchor Common Core ELA standards for reading, language, and speaking/listening ALONG WITH developing the 21st Century Skills of communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. Students will also be invited to work within the higher levels of Bloom's Taxonomy (eg. moving beyond understanding to application, analysis, and evaluation) all while formally sharing/presenting with their peers as well as you!

Students love these stories, regardless of age, and this has historically been an interactive, engaging activity I've used to open a unit of study with students to navigate fables, moving to comparison and contrast with fairy tales, myths, folk tales and legends (also available as PPT notes/activities in my store!). Thank you for visiting my store, enjoy, and I look forward to your feedback!
