Your adventurers will learn about "Harmonic Motion"
by completing 3 differentiated domino path matching activities
. Each activity has the option of including distractor cards so that you can easily differentiate your lesson.
The first two activities contain 10 clue cards plus 2 distractor cards. The third activity contains 20 clue cards plus 4 distractor cards. The third activity is also a review of topics from the first two activities. This allows for easy differentiation and is a great way for students to get extra practice. You may choose for your students to do the activities with or without the distractor cards.
These differentiated domino path matching activities are similar to other domino style matching activities.
The word side of the domino is shorter, however, which allows more room for the "just for fun" decorated themes. High school physical science and physics students will love these decorated sets!
This product is recommended for 9th-11th grade. Please check the product preview to see if the content is appropriated for the level of your students.
The first card will say “Start” and will have the first question. Find the answer to the first question and place it above the start card on the "Race Track". The card that has the first answer will also have the second question. Be sure to follow the racetrack while you continue to find the matches until you have created the entire "Path to Finish Line" in order to win the race! The last card will have the last answer and will also say “Finish”.
A "Race Track" is provided for the students to create the path on. The track makes it extra easy for you to grade visually, however, you can also allow students to record answers on the provided answer sheet.
Reusable Activity Method
Print, laminate, and cut out “Race” cards. If you want to reuse the cards be sure to laminate each set and or use card stock. Put the cards (in random order) for each activity into a separate bag along with a copy of the appropriate task card that has the student directions for that activity. Include the distractor cards in set for students who need more of a challenge. Leave out the distractor cards in sets that are intended for students who are struggling or who need extra help. Students can then place the “Race” cards on a laminated “Race Track” in the correct order. Be sure that students place the cards in the correct direction along the path so that it matches the pattern on the answer key. The grey line above each “answer” will line up with the grey line on the “Race Track” card slot. You can then visually check or grade their work. You can also let students use the “optional answer sheet” that is provided.
Cut and Paste Method
Make a photocopy of the “Race Cards” and the “Race Track” for each individual, pair, or group of students. Students can then cut out the cards and glue them in the correct order to create the entire “Racing Path”. Be sure that students paste the cards in the correct direction along the path so that it matches the pattern on the answer key. The grey line above each “answer” will line up with the grey line on the “Race Track” card slot. Students can then turn in their finished product to you.
This activity can be used for individual students, learning centers, stations, pairs, or as a group activity. All you need to do is print, laminate, and cut the clue cards.
