Polynomials are a large area of study in Algebra, and getting started with good vocab can make a huge difference in the learning process.
The vocab includes classifications by degree (constant, linear, quadratic, etc) and terms (monomial, binomial, etc), leading coefficient, and more.
This resource includes multiple tools to teach and practice the vocabulary of polynomials:
Notes and Worksheet: The 2-page handout uses definitions and charts to build the vocabulary, and exercises on the back to practice. This is a good tool for a traditional classroom lesson. Providied PDF and Word versions allow easy printing and/or customizing.
Interactive Online Activity: Providing both offline and online versions, this activity gives immediate feedback as student practice their new vocabulary to classify polynomials and identify important features. It generates random polynomials, checks students answers, and tracks successful submissions during the student session.
Compact Reusable Quiz: The quarter-page assessment includes a blank space to copy a given polynomial. Perfect for bell-work, formative assessment, and more. Print using both front-and-back to get 2 polynomials on the same quiz. Providied PDF and Word versions allow easy printing and/or customizing.
Combine these resources to bridge learning as needed! The Notes-and-Worksheet handout can make a great "cheat sheet" for use later. The Interactive Online Activity can easily generate random exercises to include on the quiz or allow students to create their own worksheets and quizzes.
