How do dying people typically grieve? Unfortunately, death impacts every singe person. For those facing death head-on, it can be an especially trying process. Students in this lesson will not only come to better understand grieving better, but they will create a pamphlet that informs those facing their impending death the typical progression of stages of grieving.
Students throughout this lesson will:
1) Respond to a Bell Ringer that asks them to consider how they would cope with the news of their impending death if they were told they only had one more year to live.
2) Read a short informational piece about the stages of terminally ill patients dealing with death.
3) Listen to an audio recording about the controversial topic of assisted suicide of the terminally ill and how it impacts the family.
4) Create an informational pamphlet about the phases of dealing with death as a terminally ill patient.
