Story Impressions is an active pre-reading strategy that introduces students to vocabulary. It provides students the opportunity to create semantic relationships amongst words by asking the students to form an impression using the words in the order in which they appear in a story. The impression develops schema and provides a starting point for revising and confirming ideas as students read.
