This activity can be used when introducing basic shapes to students. Print the pages back to back. Begin by having the students cut along the dotted lines then fold along the solid line to create a flip-book. Introduce the vocabulary word “circle”. Give each child a tangram circle. Have them open the flap labeled "circle", trace the tangram on the left hand side, count and record the number of sides, then count and record the number of corners. I give them the option to color their shape while waiting for others to finish. Do the same procedure for the vocabulary words: triangle, square, and rectangle.
