We love incorporating music into our speech therapy lessons. We have found that students become much more involved in listening and learning when we include music. This speech sound introduction packet is the perfect combination of speech and music.
This packet includes sound introduction posters, as well as 18 practice pictures/words for 22 target sounds.
The posters can be printed or can be used on an iPad in iBooks with no printing required. We have included a full color version as well as a low color version.
Each sound introduction poster includes a song verse for modeling the targeted sound. The song verse included on each poster can be sung to the tune of Old McDonald Had a Farm. (We know that not everyone likes singing….so you could also just read the song verse to your students).
Sing, or read, the introduction and modeling verse, and have your students imitate the sound. As they become proficient with the sound, have them practice production in words using the picture/word list page.
In addition to modeling the sounds, we also incorporate a unique hand signal for each sound as we model the isolated sounds. You could very easily develop your own set of hand signals, matching the hand motion to the characterization provided in each of our sound posters (popping, bouncing, jumping, etc.).
We hope you and your students have lots of fun singing your way through speech sound development with this fun and functional product..
